Jacobs Entertainment reopened Gold Dust West along West Fourth Street in downtown Reno, as well as two Gold Dust West casinos located in Carson City and Elko on Thursday, June 4.
The Sands Regency will reopen on June 24. The two Reno properties are part of Reno’s Neon Line District, a $1 billion, mixed-use project that stretches from downtown Reno’s West Street to Keystone Avenue, and from Interstate 80 South to West Second Street.
“We are ready to push forward with Nevada’s new normal and invite the community back to our casinos, safely,” said Jeffrey Jacobs, Chairman and CEO of Jacobs Entertainment. “It’s essential that we continue to prioritize the health and well-being of our employees and the community by adhering to guidelines recommended by the state and local health officials. Through careful and thoughtful planning, we are confident that we will safely reopen.”
Gold Dust West reopened on June 4 at 8 a.m., with the Sands Regency reopening on June 24 at 8 a.m. As recommended by Governor Sisolak and the Nevada Gaming Control Board, Sands Regency and Gold Dust West is closely following the guidelines of public health officers to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Some of the measures include temperature checks for every employee and hotel guest upon arrival, and guests receiving COVID-19 prevention tips with basic information. All casino employees are required to wear masks and guests are highly encouraged to wear them as well. The properties also plan to adhere to all CDC guidelines which include staying at least six-feet apart, frequent handwashing and sanitization, heightened cleaning procedures, and the installation of acrylic separation guards where they are applicable.
After pausing over the last few months, Jacobs Entertainment will continue development plans for Reno’s Neon Line.
“Like everyone, we have been impacted by this pandemic, and it will change our development timeline,” Jacobs said. “Nevertheless, I am optimistic that by this time next year we will be opening phase two of Reno’s Neon Line along West Fourth Street. Additionally, we are committed to the future development of our master plan including a residential component that contains 10% affordable housing.”
